Saint Jean
Baptiste
Community Center
The Saint Jean Baptiste Community Center is a modern complex designed to meet the spiritual needs of Saint Jean Baptiste Parish and to serve families and organizations on the Upper East Side and the city at large.
THE GREAT HALL
The focal point of the Center is The Great Hall with its warm atmosphere of light wood and glass. It is here that various events, large and small, take place — from intimate celebrations such as birthdays, baptisms, and First Communions to luncheons, banquets, receptions, lectures, concerts, and more.
MEETING AND CONFERENCE ROOMS
Surrounding The Great Hall are the dramatic foyer with a backlit glass centerpiece, three Conference Rooms of varying sizes, and the Toddler Center. The church's religious education program (Confraternity of Christian Doctrine) uses part of the Center on Wednesday afternoons during the school year as well as for some adult religious programs, and the Senior Program welcomes area seniors on two afternoons for a light luncheon or dessert, hobbies and crafts, and social activities.
The Conference Rooms are ideal for small-group interaction such as board meetings, strategy sessions, discussion groups, and a host of other possibilities.
AMENITIES
The Great Hall and the Conference Rooms have audio, video, and CD capabilities. The entire Center is air conditioned for summer comfort.
The Center has a modern kitchen prized by caterers for functionality and easy access to The Great Hall.
Restrooms are located near the Garden Patio.
THE TODDLER CENTER
The Toddler Center is home to the Saint Jean Baptiste Toddler Play Group. This child-centered facility is a warm space where parents and their children, together with the Playgroup's Director, Mrs. Pauline Reenock, grow in knowledge, exploration, and social skills in a supportive "play and learn environment."

THE KATHRYN MARTIN THEATER
Adjoining the Center is an exquisite state-of-the-art Theater, named in honor of Miss Kathryn Martin, a generous benefactor and devoted parishioner whose life was given over to teaching and fostering a love of music.
Though separately managed, the Theater and the Center can at times offer combined facilities for certain events.
SAINT JEAN BAPTISTE THRIFT SHOP
The Thrift Shop is open several days a week and offers a wide selection of treasures and bargains — clothing, jewelry, shoes, books, and bric-a-brac — at great prices.
Mrs. Pat Sliwak Grinberg, Thrift Shop Director: 212.472.2853, ext. 4.
Contact John Lantry, the Director, at 212.472.2853, ext. 1, or at sjbcc@aol.com for information about rental and use of the Saint Jean Baptiste Community Center. The entrance is on 76th Street below the church.
