we shall be united with him in the resurrection."

FOR THE NOCTURNAL ADORATION SOCIETY

All:
In the name of the Father, of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.  Amen.

Leader:
Our Brother/Sister-Adorer, ........, has fallen asleep in the peace of Christ.  With the faith and hope of eternal life, let us commend him/her to the loving mercy of our Father in heaven.  May our prayers go with him/her that he/she, who by baptism became one of God's children, who was fed at the Lord's table, and who spent many hours in nocturnal adoration, may now be called to the table of God's children in heaven. with the saints and our fellow-adorers who have preceded us, may he/she inherit the everlasting life promised by Christ our risen Lord and Savior.

All:
Amen.

Leader:
I believe that my redeemer lives,

All:
And at the last day I shall rise from the dust.

PSALM 16
A PSALM OF CONFIDENCE

Leader:
Protect me God, because I come to you for safety.

All:
I say to the Lord, "You are my Lord;
all the good things I have come from you.

Leader:
How excellent are the Lord's faithful people!
My greatest pleasure is to be with them.

All:
Those who rush to other gods bring many
troubles on themselves.
I will not take part in their sacrifices;
I will not worship their gods.

Leader:
You, Lord, are all I have,
and you give me all I need;
my life is in your hands.

All:
How wonderful are your gifts to me;
how good they are!

Leader:
I praise the Lord, because he guides me,
and he is near, and nothing can shake me.

All:
Because you will not allow me to go to the
world of the dead,
you will not abandon to the depths below
the one you love.

Leader:
You will show me the path that leads to life;
your presence fills me with joy,
and your help brings pleasure forever.

All:
Lord, grant him/her to see your light
for all eternity in the joys of heaven.

Leader:
In my flesh I shall see God my Savior.

All:
My very self shall see him, my own eyes
shall gaze on him.

PSALM 23
THE LORD IS OUR SHEPHERD

Leader:
The Lord is my shepherd;
I have everything I need.

All:
He lets me rest in fields of green grass
and leads me to quiet pools of fresh water.

Leader:
He gives me new strength.
He guides me in the right way,
as he has promised.

All:
Even if that way goes through deepest darkness,
I will not be afraid, Lord,
because you are with me!
Your shepherd's rod and staff keep me safe.

Leader:
You prepare a banquet for me,
where all my enemies can see me;
You welcome me by pouring ointment on my head
and filling my cup to the brim.

All:
Certainly your goodness and love will be
with me as long as I live;
and your house will be my home forever.

Leader:
Lord, grant him to see your light

All:
For all eternity in the joys of heaven.

Leader:
In my heart I cherish the hope

All:
That in my flesh I shall see God, my Savior.

PSALM 84
I LONG FOR GOD'S HOUSE

Leader:
How I love your temple, almighty God!

All:
How I want to be there!
I long for the courts of the Lord's temple.
With my whole being I sing with joy to
the living God.

Leader:
Even the sparrows have built a nest,
and the swallows have their own home;
they keep their young near your altars,
Lord almighty, my king and my God.

All:
How happy are those who live in your temple,
always singing praise to you!

Leader:
How happy are those whose strength
comes from you,
who are eager to make the pilgrimage
to Mount Zion.

All:
As they pass through the dry valley
it becomes a place of springs;
the early rain fills it with pools.

Leader:
They grow stronger as they go;
they will see the God of gods on Zion!

All:
Hear my prayer, Lord God almighty;
listen, God of Jacob!

Leader:
Bless our king, God,
the king you have chosen!

All:
One day spent in your temple
is better than a thousand anywhere else;
I would rather stand at the gate of the
house of my God
than live in the homes of the wicked.

Leader:
The Lord is our protector and glorious king,
blessing us with kindness and honor.
He does not refuse any good thing
to those who do what is right.

All:
Happy are those who trust in you,
almighty God!

Leader:
Lord, grant him/her to see your light.

All:
For all eternity in the joys of heaven.

Leader:
A reading from the Book of the prophet Ezechiel (37:12-14):

Therefore prophesy, and say to them, Thus says the Lord God: I am going to open your graves, and bring you up from your graves, O my people; and I will bring you back to the land of Israel.  And you shall know that I am the Lord, when I open your graves, and bring you up from your graves, O my people.  I will put my spirit within you, and you shall live, and I will place you on your own soil; then you shall know that I, the Lord, have spoken and will act," says the Lord.

All:
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord
Jesus Christ, a gentle Father and the God of all
consolation, who comforts us in all our sorrows.

Leader:
He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood
has eternal life,

All:
And I shall raise him up on the last day.

PSALM 130

Leader:
In my despair I call to you, Lord.

All:
Hear my cry, Lord,
listen to my call for help!

Leader:
If you kept a record of our sins,
who could escape being condemned?

All:
But you forgive us,
so that we should bear you.

Leader:
I wait eagerly for the Lord's help,
and in his word I trust.

All:
I wait for the Lord,
more eagerly than watchmen wait for
the dawn,
than watchmen wait for the dawn.

Leader:
Israel, trust in the Lord,
because his love is constant,
and he is always willing to save.

All:
He will save his people Israel
from all their sins.

Leader:
Our Father

All:

Who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name!
Thy kingdom come.  Thy will be done on earth
as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily
bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we
forgive those who trespass against us; and lead
us not into temptation, but deliver us from
evil.  Amen.

Leader:
Let us pray. Father in heaven, you loved the world
so much that you gave your only Son, our Lord
Jesus Christ, as our Redeemer.  We ask your merciful
love for your servant and our Brother/Sister-Adorer.
Through the death of Jesus, you opened the gates of
life to those who believe in him.  Our Brother/Sister
Adorer believed with a firm adoring faith.  Do not
permit him/her to be parted from you, but by your
glorious power, grant him/her a place of light, joy,
and eternal peace.  Through Christ our Lord.

All:
Amen.

Leader:
Most merciful Father, we commend our Brother/Sister Adorer
into your hands.  We are filled with the sure hope that he/she will
rise again on the last day with all those who have died in Christ.
Father, in your great mercy, accept our prayer that the gates of
paradise may be opened for your servant.  In life, he/she was a
dedicated nocturnalist and spent many hours praying in union with
your Son our Lord Jesus Christ in his Eucharistic mystery
that
same mystery wherein Christ broke the snare of death and rose
again for the salvation of all who believe in you.  Grant peace to
your servant as he/she awaits the call of your son to share the full
light of your face and the everlasting joy of your presence.
Through Christ our Lord.

All:
Amen.

All:
O God, grant comfort to the bereaved family of ....
May they receive peace in your promises of life eternal.
This we ask of your mercy, through Christ our Lord. Amen.

All:
In the name of the Father, of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.
