Spreading the faith by sharing God's gifts
Each year, the Archdiocese of New York, through the Cardinal's Appeal, raises funds to support the charitable, pastoral, spiritual, and educational ministries that make our Archdiocese so vibrant and alive.
The 2008 Cardinal's Appeal is currently underway at Saint Jean Baptiste. As of Saturday, May 17, 124 donors have pledged a total of $63,139, or 72% of our parish goal of $88,000.
The Archdiocesan goal is 16 million dollars, to be allocated as follows:
Support for
Needy Parishes and Schools
$5.5 million
The Archdiocese assists many needy parishes and schools
in meeting operational expenses
Preparing Clergy
$1.25 million
Funding for Archdiocesan major
seminary (Saint Joseph's)
as well as for
high school and college pre-seminary programs
Academic and
Spiritual Formation
$5.5 million
Catechetical programs for youth,
formation of catechists,
Archdiocesan Education Office,
support services to 293 elementary and secondary schools
Specialized
Services
$1 million
Support to church, school, and
hospital personnel
through Archdiocesan offices and agencies
Retired Priests
and Religious
$1.25 million
Providing for the retirement needs
of elderly priests, sisters, and brothers
Works of
Charity
$1.5 million
Food programs, care of the elderly
and families,
counseling services, assistance to the handicapped, etc.
